Welcome to Patentlia ! The mission of this site is to provide networking, education, actionable insights, and a collective voice in the patent community so that patent practitioners can grow and achieve the highest levels of competence in their respective practices.

Protecting Your Intellectual Property

Inventions are the bedrock of innovation. A technological invention can be protected through patents. Patents grant you legal rights to exclude anyone else from manufacturing or marketing your technology. This provides opportunities for inventors to sell, trade or license their patented technologies to others who may want to use them. Patents can be registered in foreign countries also to get international protection. Here is what you need to learn about protecting your IP through patents.

Defending Your Intellectual Property

Organizations often face situations where they believe that others are using their intellectual property (IP)
rights unlawfully. This is commonly referred to as infringement of their rights. Patent owners should consider taking appropriate steps to assert their IP rights by ensuring proper enforcement. They need mechanisms to discover infringement and to take swift actions if an infringement is discovered. Learn about what to consider in order to prevent potential infringement and defend your rights.

Monetization of Intellectual Property

Patents can be monetized using different ways such as by licensing them, selling them, or turning them into products that can generate revenues. Monetization changes an intangible patent asset into a stream of revenue. Not having a right patent monetization strategy is a big opportunity loss for any inventor or organization. Read all that you should know as an individual or an organization if you want to try to recover your patenting investment via different monetization options.

Patent Analytics

Patent analytics is a process that helps in studying the information related to the given patent, a significant form of intellectual property. It is unique management of the tools for the strategic direction of technology, service, and product. The patent analytics helps translate the patent information into competitive intelligence and help the firm increase its technology trends and plan the potential competition based on new technologies.

IP Audit & Asset Management

An IP audit is systematic checking and reviewing a company’s assets and intellectual property. It determines the related risks and opportunities to an IP. IP audits are essential for the preservation, enhancement, and correction of defects in IP. It also helps in finding ways to generate revenue and commercializes unused IP. IP audit identifies the risk of infringing other company’s solution, products, and services. An IP audit directs the company on the use of IP assets and reviews them. It also reviews IP policies and agreements to make the company’s IP portfolio better.

Patent Strategy

Companies follow a series of steps that help them to secure their inventions and their position in the market of technology in which they perform. This series of steps is known as a patent strategy. Patent strategy requires a preventive analysis of the state of existing art, and it also helps identify risks and opportunities. It is correlated to the PLCM strategy, which refers to Platform Life – Cycle Management. The platform is an integrated system that is required to design, develop, and supply products. PLCM strategy includes management of platform, development, and improvement of platform, and product end–of–life (EOL) management.
